Conference in the beautiful surroundings of Sprogø

The first conference for the industry community, InfraHub, was held on Thursday, 15th November. Its theme was 'Challenges and Benefits of Data Driven Asset Management.' The event attracted substantial interest and both speakers and participants contributed to an inspiring conference that focused on knowledge sharing and networking.

The conference took place on the island of Sprogø and delivered an interesting mix of experiences about the deployment of new technology and digital opportunities in the operation and maintenance of largescale facilities.

The speakers came from a wide range of organisations, all involving the implementation of technologies designed to optimize working procedures. Attendees included the Confederation of Danish Industry, Danfoss, DTU BYG, CN3 and other partners.

There were many good suggestions on how digitalisation and the progress of new technological solutions can create value; how the opportunities can be exploited and what is required to achieve the full potential of a digital switch-over.   The presentations also included specific examples of the results that had been achieved following digital transformation at major operating organisations and the many challenges that this involved.

The participants were taken on a physical tour of one of Storebælt’s anchor-blocks. COWI was on hand to give a drone demonstration to show how they can be used for inspections.

Digitalisation in the construction industry
The term BIM covers multiple concepts but in the end it's all about the process of digitalisation in the construction industry. BIM is an evolution and that takes time - it changes the ways we work in construction. Data and Information are central elements to the way the industry will achieve more efficiency and productivity through BIM. BIM should not become complex. BIM should be a technology-tool to make construction better. Want to learn more? Read the article here
